In this project, students were introduced to the process of creating an intaglio print. To begin the lesson, students discussed the symbolism of currency and the ways in which we use, value, and understand money. Students viewed the work of James Charles, Mark Wagner, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and Peter Simensky, artists who have created artwork around the concept of money. Students were invited to alter currency of their choosing by incorporating various symbols and text to change the meaning. The designs were printed using a dry point engraving (intaglio) process.

Some students pushed their concepts further by adding color to their completed prints.
